Salzburg is famous especially in the summer months for the festival held here weeks.

The most famous operas and people of culture and politics meet in the melting pot of culture and music in Salzburg in August. Since Herbert von Karajan had called the Easter Festival to life many famous people are enjoying themselves through out all kinds of bars, restaurants and oll those lovely spots around old town.

Festival Calendar 2010

The Salzburg Festival is a cultural event, held every summer since 1920 in Salzburg. Precursor event was (since 1877 at irregular intervals) the "international music festival in Salzburg". Among the performances traditionally Hugo von Hofmannsthal's "Jedermann" is represented. This performance under the direction of Max Reinhardt, 22nd August 1920, in front of he Cathedral Square is marked as the birth of the Salzburger Festival.

In addition to the summer festival there are also being organized the Easter Festival, introduced by Herbert von Karajan.

Since 2007, attention has been paid by Neapolitan composers of the 18th Century, Riccardo Muti acts as conductor and artistic director. [Source: wikipedia.org]
